How to Hack Wordle
New to this? Start with our general guide to hacking Android games.
Wordle lives in The New York Times Company’s NYT Games app, past 10 million downloads on Google Play. There’s nothing to edit: the game loads each day’s answer from the server as a small JSON file. So CheatDroid’s capture does the work here. It records a request from the app, and Edit & replay sends it again to the address of that file, with whichever date you like. Puzzle No. 1960 took me one guess.
Open NYT Games in CheatDroid, tap Traffic and then Start capture. The app restarts. Scroll down on its sign-up sheet, tap Play without an account, and go back to CheatDroid. Tap the search icon and type
active.. Any of those rows will do.json
A request from the app to start from Open a row and tap the round arrow at the top right, Edit & replay. Replace the URL with
https://www., using the date you want, and tap the send arrow.nytimes. com/svc/wordle/v2/2026-10-31. json
The URL changed to the day’s file Back in the list, search for
svc/wordle. Your replay is a new row. Open it.
Today’s replay, and tomorrow’s under it Type
solutioninto Find in body. CheatDroid jumps to it, and that’s the answer.
The answer, in plain text Tap Stop capture and force stop NYT Games before you play. Wordle runs in a WebView, which refuses CheatDroid’s certificate, so during a capture the page comes up without its styling. Then open Wordle and type the word.

What else I found
- Tomorrow’s date works as well, so the word is there before the puzzle goes up.
- Connections and Strands answer the same way, at
svc/connections/v2/andsvc/strands/v2/. - Without an account your result goes to no leaderboard. With one it counts on your friends’ board, so don’t.
- Needs CheatDroid 4.2.2 or newer. Capture and replay are free.
- Tested on NYT Games 6.48.0.
Made an app that talks to a server? Here’s what a capture can read, and what to do about it.
