How to Hack Bus Fever Party!

New to this? Start with our general guide to hacking Android games.

Bus Fever Party! is Lumi Games’ bus jam puzzle, past 10 million downloads on Google Play. Coins buy the extra parking spots and boosters you need once the jams get tight, and the game saves them in a small binary file in its Android/data folder. There’s no text to search for a number there, but the field names are spelled out, and the four bytes after Count are your coins. I changed them in CheatDroid’s hex editor and went from 120 to 999,999.

After: 999999 coins
  1. Play the first level, which pays 20 coins on top of the 100 you start with. To see the balance, tap one of the green + parking spots: the counter is in the top left of that screen. Mine said 120.

  2. Open CheatDroid, allow root and tap Bus Fever Party!. Tap the search icon, type InventoryArchive and open InventoryArchive.sav from Android/data. Tap Force stop, then Hex editor, because the file isn’t text.

  3. Scroll both columns down to the end. The text column on the right spells C·o·u·n·t; next to it in the hex column come 78 00 00 00, which is 120. Tap the 78, type 3F 42 0F 00 on the keypad, and tap the check mark.

  4. Start the game and tap a + spot again. The counter says 999999.

  5. I paid the 600 for that spot. The file held 999,399 afterwards, and the game showed 999399 after a restart.

What else I found

  • The four bytes are the number in hex, lowest byte first: 120 is 78 00 00 00, 999,999 is 3F 42 0F 00.
  • Only overwrite bytes, never add or delete one. The file has to keep its length.
  • Needs CheatDroid 4.1.5 or newer, where a tap selects the byte under your finger. Saving in the hex editor needs Pro.
  • It runs offline, and every level is yours alone.
  • Tested on version 1.2.9.
