How to Hack Kick the Buddy

Kick the Buddy by Playgendary has more than 500 million downloads on Google Play. Its save file carries a checksum, so editing it gets you nowhere. The gold is a plain number in memory, though, and CheatDroid's memory scanner finds it in two scans.

   Start Kick the Buddy. Gold is the lower of the two counters at the top right; a new game starts with 100.

   Switch to CheatDroid, tap Kick the Buddy, then Memory. Type your gold, leave the type on Int and tap Scan. Mine came back with 18,165 matches.

   Go back to the game and hit the buddy a few times. Every hit pays a little gold; mine went up to 106.

   In CheatDroid, type the new amount and tap = 106. Three matches were left.

   Tap Select all, then Set, type 999999 and tap Apply.

   Hit the buddy a few more times before you close the game, so it saves. After a restart my gold was at 1,000,005.

What else I found

• Editing the save file instead doesn’t work: the game notices and throws it away.
• The gems are the counter above the gold and can be found the same way.
• Scanning is free; setting a value needs CheatDroid Pro.
• Tested on version 2.20.2.
